The paintings in this series deliver subject matter through literary devises such as metaphor and analogy.     This is because the development of their concepts began in lyrical form.   These paintings either grew out of songs I’ve written, or evolved simultaneously with sister pieces of original music.     In some cases, the entire painting derives from a single lyrical phrase.   More abstract elements of the paintings, such as the structure of the composition and the color scheme, were adapted from the more abstract components of the music, such as the tone and intensity of the instrumentals.   The ideas typically expressed relate to the modern human experience and the search for place within society , or nature, or even time.
